Gladiators hosts Bradley and Barney Walsh reveal why BBC bosses have BANNED them from trying show’s infamous challenges

Father-and-son duo banned from taking on show's games

Bradley and Barney Walsh, hosts of the BBC's Gladiators reboot, have disclosed that they are prohibited from participating in any of the show's well-known challenges. Despite presenting the show since 2023, the duo is not allowed to try out the iconic games that viewers have come to love.

Strict rules prevent hosts from participating

During an appearance on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with The National Lottery on Virgin Radio UK, Chris Evans questioned the Walshes about their involvement in the challenges. Barney expressed his eagerness to try the Eliminator but mentioned that insurance restrictions prevent them from taking part. Even using the show's pugil sticks is off-limits for the father-son duo.

Future of Gladiators confirmed

Despite the hosts' restrictions, the BBC has announced a third season of Gladiators, seeking daring individuals from the UK to face off against the superhuman Gladiators. The show recently introduced two new Gladiators, expanding the squad to 18 members. The original Gladiators series gained popularity when it premiered on ITV in 1992 and is now airing on BBC One and iPlayer.
