GMA’s Lara Spencer shares rare never-before-seen photos from her childhood during cooking special with her mom

GOOD Morning America anchor Lara Spencer has shared a slew of never-before-seen childhood photos while welcoming her mom onto the show on Wednesday.

In the broadcast, the 52-year-old TV personality has showed off the old snaps while going down memory lane about growing up as the youngest of five kids.

The anchor had her mom on for a Mother’s Day segment, and the two reminisced about Lara’s early years

Lara had her mom, Carolyn Von Seelen, join her on GMA in celebration of Mother’s Day on Sunday.

The pair taught viewers how to make her “momma’s favorite dish,” which is called Cowboy Casserole.

Before they got to the actual cooking part of the special, though, the two spent a bit of time reminiscing about Lara’s childhood.

The host opened up from set: “As the youngest of five kids, I got to tag along with mom quite a lot.

“And, as a result, we’ve always been best friends.

“Here’s a look at how special she is.”

The broadcast then cut over to her and her mom sitting side by side on a couch together, with both of them sharing details about one another.

Lara said: “My relationship with my mom is incredible. She is my best friend, my advisor.”

Her mom Carolyn said of her daughter: “She was the baby in the family, and she just brought a great deal of pleasure to us from that day until right now.”

While gushing about one another, a slideshow of old photos of the two of them together played.

In the first, Lara, in her younger adult years, wore a red T-shirt and tiny black shorts as she went shopping with her mom, and the two of them showed off the goods they’d found.

The next shot took it back much further, showing the TV personality as a toddler, sitting on her mom’s lap.

The little girl had short, curly hair, and she was surrounded by the rest of her family – her dad and siblings – in the black-and-white photo.

In the third picture, which was not in color, Lara had her blonde hair styled in voluminous bob.

She wore a red-and-white ensemble and posed with her family all around her.

After the slideshow, the broadcast cut back to Lara in the studio, and her co-anchor Robin Roberts jumped in to tell her: “Okay, those photos? Priceless!”

Lara agreed, saying: “Yeah, there are some good looks in there.”

They showed a few of the snaps again, and Robin added: “I love these throwback photos we’re seeing here.”

When the one of Lara in her red dress and voluminous hair popped up, she laughed and joked: “I don’t love that one, but…”

With the childhood photos out of the way, the 52-year-old got into the cooking of it all and shared what she and her mom would be demonstrating.

“Cowboy Casserole was a great example of my mom trying to get it done for a family of seven,” she said of the meal.

The anchor added: In one dish, it had your meat, your vegetable, some starch…it’s a legendary dish in our house.”

The duo made a “vegetarian version of their family favorite” during the rest of the segment.
