CHRISTOPHER Biggins infuriated Good Morning Britain viewers today after making a big blunder in a debate over Superman’s bisexual son.
Earlier this week DC Comics announced that Jon Kent, the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, will strike up a bisexual relationship with close pal Jay Nakamura.
The move will make Jon the franchise’s second openly bisexual character two months after it announced Batman’s sidekick Robin has a boyfriend.
Panto legend Biggins, 72, seemed to think it was Clark Kent’s Superman that was coming out as bisexual rather than his son – who is a relatively new character.
Criticising DC, he said: “If you want to do something like this, do something original. Don’t take characters that already exist and make them into something they’re not.”
He added that the company “shouldn’t pander to the woke system”.
But GMB host Richard Madeley corrected him by pointing out Jon is a next generation character.
Biggins failed to take it in, responding: “I do find it bizarre that this is what people want nowadays. Why can’t we stick to what we’ve had.”
A fan also pointed out the major flaw in his reasoning, writing on Twitter: “That’s why it *is* a new character, negating Biggins’ point.”
Another posted: “Biggins missed the point that it was Superman’s son. There’s nothing wrong with representation. Some people are bi. Didn’t Biggins get the boot from CBB for remarks about bi people? His comments are as ridiculous as ‘PC gone mad’ and a way to demonise.”
A third said: “Oh, Biggins. I adore him but he doesn’t do himself any favours sometimes. Just…hush.”
Back in 2016 Biggins was thrown out of Celebrity Big Brother for offensive comments about bisexual people.
He blamed them for the spread of HIV in the 80s and accused them of being too scared to come out as gay.
Earlier this week DC gave fans a taste of how Jon and Jay’s relationship will develop. They said: “After initially striking up a friendship with reporter Jay Nakamura, he and Jon become romantically involved.
“Following a scene where Superman mentally and physically burns out from trying to save everyone that he can, Jay is there to care for the Man of Steel.
“Faster than fate. As powerful as hope. Able to lift us all. For all his great power, Jon Kent can’t save everyone, but that won’t stop him from trying. How much can Earth’s new Superman do before this Man of Steel buckles? And when he does, who swoops in to save Superman?”
