GMB’s Ben Shephard suffers awkward gaffe after he speaks Spanish to Italian star Gino D’Acampo

GOOD Morning Britain’s Ben Shephard was left cringing today after he mistakenly spoke Spanish to Italian chef Gino D’Acampo.

The 46-year-old appeared on the early morning stalwart with Susanna Reid, 50, following her summer break – and proved that his Italian isn’t up to scratch.

GMB’s Ben Shephard was left red-faced after mistakenly speaking Spanish to Gino D’Acampo, who is Italian

The Italian chef was quick to correct him on his linguistic error

Teasing their upcoming interview with the cheeky chef, Ben welcomed Gino to the show and said ‘hello’ in his native Italian.

The bilingual moment left Ben trying to respond to Gino in his mother tongue – only to get his languages confused and hilariously speak to him in Spanish.

The GMB star began: “Still to come, we’re talking Family Feuds and food with the one and only Gino D’Acampo. Morning Gino!”

“Bonjourno,” the TV chef, 45, answered. “Come stai?” [How are you?].

To which the broadcaster replied: “Muy buen [very good], is that right?”

The mishap didn’t go unnoticed by Gino who scolded poor Ben and said: “Muy buen is Spanish. It’s not Italian!”.

“What’s the Italian for ‘good’, ‘we’re good'” the red-faced presenter quickly asked, to which Gino replied, “Tutto bene, tutto bene”.

Trying to brush off the awkward moment, Ben laughed: “Tutto bene, there we go Tutto bene Gino, we going to be chatting to Gino very shortly

“… and more Italian lessons for me”.

Good Morning Britain airs Monday – Friday on ITV from 6am to 9am
