GOOD Morning Britain’s Laura Tobin and Andi Peters suffered a tense clash today after she awkwardly called him out for a cringe geography blunder.
The 39-year-old meteorologist couldn’t resist giving her two cents when the breakfast show cut to the weather after Andi’s competition segment.
The 51-year-old TV favourite had presented his usual segment live from St Ouen’s Bay in Jersey, and told hosts Susanna Reid and Alastair Campbell: “Where we are right now, if you sailed in a straight line from here, the next mass of land you would hit is actually the United States.”
He added: “At the moment we aren’t allowed there, so I’ll just stay here.”
However, Laura called him out for making a mistake before she gave viewers the weather, looking uncomfortable as she said: “Just a note for Andi, if he sailed West he’d get to Canada, not America, just saying. There were quite a few inaccuracies there.”
Andi wasn’t going down without a fight, storming back into shot as he exclaimed: “Woah, woah, woah, girlfriend, woah, woah woah. In a straight line, from exactly where I’m standing, I would get to America.”
Laura argued: “At the same latitude? No, you’d be in Canada.”
The use of proper terminology threw her co-star, with Andi quickly dashing off camera as he joked: “No, not latitude! I’m out of here.”
Laura then appeared unsure on her stance, telling viewers: “Okay, erm, hopefully I’m correct and Andi is wrong…”
But she couldn’t resist one last jibe, snipping: “Anyway, let’s continue with the weath – with many more truths and no lies.”
Last month, Laura broke down in tears live on the show as she spoke about her four-year-old daughter Charlotte while presenting Good Morning Britain from the Arctic.
