GOGGLEBOX has paid tribute to the “wonderful and generous” publicist Lesley Land who died unexpectedly last week.
The Channel 4 show dedicated last night’s episode to Lesley and paid a sweet tribute to her at the end of an emotional episode.
Beloved Gogglebox team member Lesley Land has died suddenly aged 41 at her home
Lesley, 41, was a publicist for Channel 4 for more than eight years.
She worked behind the scenes on hit programmes including Gogglebox, The Big Narstie Show and The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, before her death on December 2.
At the end of Friday’s Gogglebox the show honoured the beloved team member and paid tribute by sharing a photograph of Lesley.
The tribute was accompanied by the epitaph: “In loving memory – Lesley Land, 1981-2022.”
In a statement on Thursday the channel also said it is “deeply saddened by the news that our long-standing colleague and friend has passed away.
“She was the driving force of many of Channel 4’s most memorable press campaigns of the last decade, delivering them with flair and panache,” added the statement.
The PR had most recently been working on a documentary about antisemitism called Jews Don’t Count for the channel, with the broadcaster saying in the statement that “she said she had never been prouder to work on a programme.”
The statement continued: “Lesley was a wonderful friend, a generous colleague and made tremendous fun wherever she went. But ultimately family was at the core of Lesley’s life.
“Our hearts go out to them at this devastating time. Much loved by all who knew her, she will be sorely missed.”
It comes as last night’s Gogglebox episode also saw two cast members sharing their happy pregnancy news.
Fan favourite Pete Sandiford revealed he’s going to be a dad again in a night of shocks on the show.
He told viewers his wife Paige was pregnant with her second child in a remark to their son Jimmy.
It came after Ellie Warner revealed she is also pregnant in a surprise on-air announcement.
The show favourite, who has been dating boyfriend Nat Eddleston since 2018, got our her baby scan to show her sister Izzie.
Ellie told Izzi: “I went for a scan on Saturday. That’s the picture.” She replied: “Looks like an alien.”
