One of the biggest stars of Gogglebox, Dame Maureen Lipman, has slammed the show's producers for "editing out" important moments. The Coronation Street actress appeared on the celebrity edition of the popular Channel 4 series alongside This Morning personality Gyles Brandreth.

A Revelatory Podcast Interview

Dame Maureen discussed her experience on Celebrity Gogglebox during an interview with her friend Rachel Johnson for the Difficult Women podcast. Gyles, who is a close friend of both stars, texted Rachel before the podcast for tips on the interview.

Practicing Their Wit

Gyles praised Dame Maureen's character, stating that she is marvelous and can talk brilliantly for laughs. He suggested that she perform her Theresa May impressions, sing a song from Oklahoma, or play the harp using her mouth. However, Dame Maureen then revealed that much of their intelligent banter was edited out of the show, with producers choosing to focus on the more risqué moments.

A Missed Opportunity

Dame Maureen expressed her disappointment, stating that they had a great time together on Gogglebox, but the show failed to utilize their wit. Instead, they were shown reacting to explicit content. Rachel Johnson jokingly remarked that it was a waste of Dame Maureen's talents, to which the star agreed.
