Gogglebox star who quit to work on her business after a row with her mum suffers losses

Gogglebox star Paige Deville quit the show to concentrate on her business following a row with her mum – but the firm made a loss last year.

Paige left the Channel 4 show in September following her heart-breaking split with mum Sally Hayward.

Yet the Channel 4 star’s new company has failed to make a profit

The Gogglebox alumni runs her own beauty recruitment business, and has been putting all her efforts into growing Staffordshire-based Palm Recruitment.

The company was set up to help find jobs for people in careers ranging from management, sales, admin and HR to therapists, hairdressers and spa advisors.

But first-year accounts posted to Companies House this week show the outfit made a loss of £113.

The balance sheet also showed the outfit had assets of £661 for the 12 months to May this year.

At the moment, she has around 30 clients.

Her younger sister works for her and she is planning to recruit more staff in the near future.

And in November, she ranted about a planned rise in Corporation Tax and blasted the pandemic furlough scheme.

Paige explained how angry she was in a video to her Instagram followers.

She said: “Hi guys, story time with Paige Deville as always, you know I’ve got to give you all a weekly update.

“But I am obviously working and I’ve had an email from my payroll company – just wanted to express my anger at this situation.

“My payroll company have just told me a couple of updates that’s going on next year and so forth and one that’s really hit a nerve is the corporation tax one.

“So at the moment all business owners pay 19 per cent on profits made, which to be fair is pretty high. By the end of April 2023 that will be at 25 per cent.

“So we were never going to get away with furlough, people getting paid for free to sit and home and do nothing. We’ve now lost that much money they’re now coming at the business owners, so that’s great.

“All the people out there that want to set up their own businesses, try and be successful make a difference and a quarter of our profits we’re paying back.

“On top of paying our normal taxes and tax on everything we buy and sell, but yeah, anyway let’s go and get some work in and pay 25 per cent on it.”

Things were tough for Paige in her family life last year, as she admitted she was spending Christmas Day alone.

Paige confessed she was facing the “toughest battle” amid the festive season – months after a fallout with her co-star mum Sally.

The pair sensationally quit the Channel 4 show in September – slamming it for providing “zero after care” and being “controlling” in a scathing social media message.

It followed a bitter feud between Paige and her mum, which has largely been kept under wraps.

Yet Paige did Tweet: “To clarify, people thinking I fell out with my mom over Gogglebox, My ‘mom’ is an absolute disgrace who I wish to never speak to again due to a serious family issue NOT about a TV show.”

Paige and Sally shot to fame in 2019 when on the 14th series of the show.

They lasted four seasons before calling it quits.
