GOGGLEBOX fans will soon see some new faces on the show as bosses launch a recruitment drive.
The move comes after five cast members recently left the show following the deaths of show favourites Pete McGarry, 71, Andrew Michael, 61, and Mary Cook, 92.
Andrews’ wife Carolyne and children Alex and Louis; Pete’s wife Linda and Mary’s best friend Marina have all decided to leave the show after the loss of their loved ones.
While Paige Deville and mum Sally have also quit following a row behind the scenes.
Executive producer Victoria Ray told the Star: “There are going to be new faces. They’ll be joining during the current series.”
“We pick people who don’t want to be on telly.
“The ideal people are ones who don’t know that they’re funny.”
Victoria added that the successful candidates would be “charismatic and engaging”.
Gogglebox returned to screens on Friday night and it featured a new face in the form of Pete Sandiford’s baby son.
And at the National Television Awards earlier this month, show star Julie Malone paid tribute to Andy, Pete and Mary as the show picked up a gong for best Factual Entertainment Programme.
In a moving tribute that had viewers in tears, she shared: “On behalf of the Gogglebox family, I would just like to say a massive thanks for this award and on a sadder note, I’d like to dedicate it to all the people we’ve lost over the last 18 months.
“Andy, Pete, Mary and everybody’s favourite grandma June who has been reunited with Leon.”
