The show is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this week

It originally started out as a 10-minute version and was only supposed to last six weeks.

But as it grew in popularity, the network continued to recommission it, and the rest – as they say – is history.

Creative director Tim Harcourt pitched the show alongside CEO Stephen Lambert to Channel 4, but it originally had a different name.

Speaking to The Guardian, Tim said: “242 minutes, the original working title, was the average amount of time a British adult watched TV a day back then.

“The name Gogglebox was our favourite alternative title.

“Watch With Britain only lasted for one week. Everyone hated it.”

In honour of the show’s 10 year anniversary, a special 90-minute episode of Gogglebox will air on Saturday, March 11.

As well as familar faces from the current cast, former members of Gogglebox will return.

These include Dom and Steph, who left in 2016, and Sandi and Sandra.

Sandi also left in 2016 before Sandra followed a year later in 2017.

Gogglebox has seen a whole host of friends, families and couples take part since it began.

There are only two original stars still on the show; Stephen Webb – who used to appear alongside his ex-boyfriend Chris Ashby-Steed – and the Siddiqui family.
