The 66-year-old has been “missing” from presenting duties for seven weeks in a row.

He was last in the TV studio on August 10 when he became embroiled in a furious bust up with politician James Cleverly.

One viewer asked: “Where’s Richard Madeley?

“Has he been given the boot by GMB? Not seen him for ages.”

Someone else wondered: “Has @GMB finally dumped Richard Madeley? He’s not been around for ages, thankfully.”

The broadcaster always divides opinion when he fronts the ITV breakfast show.

He’s often compared to tactless Alan Partridge – a fictional local radio host played by Steve Coogan.

While others praise him as one of television’s greats – having started his career at the BBC in 1976.

After meeting his wife Judy Finnigan six years later, the pair went on to become one of the most popular duos of all-time.

They famously hosted This Morning from 1988 until 2001, before fronting chat show Richard & Judy on Channel 4 until 2009.
