Will Njobvu Bravely Shares his Traumatic Experience
Will Njobvu, the popular radio DJ and host of Good Morning Britain, has courageously revealed that he was sexually assaulted. This revelation comes after Njobvu publicly came out as gay last year. In a candid interview, he admitted that the assault left him feeling incredibly upset and scared.
A Terrifying Encounter
Reflecting on the incident, Njobvu disclosed that he met the perpetrator on the dating app Grindr and went on a date with him. Afterward, he accompanied the person to their place. Njobvu described this as his first encounter with someone being forceful towards him despite his clear refusal. He recounted feeling incredibly upset and scared throughout the assault. Compounding the situation, Njobvu had not shared his location with anyone, leaving him isolated and vulnerable.
Fears of Coming Forward
Despite the trauma he experienced, Njobvu chose not to report the assault, primarily because he was not ready to discuss his sexuality with others. He expressed concern that involving the police might inadvertently reveal his sexual orientation to his family.
A Brave Face
The following day, Njobvu went to work and put on a brave face, concealing the emotional turmoil he was experiencing. He appeared on the Jeremy Vine Show, all the while battling tears. Njobvu shared that he had to compose himself, appearing upbeat and unaffected during the show. However, during commercial breaks, he would have flashbacks to the previous night's events, causing further distress. Njobvu kept the assault to himself, not disclosing it to anyone on the production team or even the show's host, Jeremy Vine.
A Powerful Revelation
Last year, Njobvu decided to publicly announce his sexuality in a powerful TikTok video. In the video, he confidently declared, "I'm Black, gay, and proud." Njobvu explained that he never imagined saying those words without feeling cringed, uncomfortable, or ashamed. He emphasized the importance of embracing one's true self and living authentically, regardless of gender or identity.
