Fans were thrilled to see Gordon on Thursday morning

Gordon, 42, was sat alongside show stalwart Charlotte Hawkins for Thursday’s instalment of the daily programme.

While Ben Shepherd normally takes the reins, a major line-up change will now see Gordon present on Thursday and Friday.

After announcing the news this week, the TV star said he was “thrilled to be joining” the team, and “relishing” in the role.

And it appears fans of Good Morning Britain agree, as this morning they flooded social media in support of Gordon.

Many took to Twitter to welcome the new host, and call for him to become a “permanent presenter” on the programme.

“Good hunky looks aside, he’s definitely doing a good job,” one fan penned. “Let’s make him a permanent presenter.”

“Great to see Gordon on today, a breath of fresh air and I hope he can stay,” a second chimed in to agree.

“GMB have filled our post Christmas mornings stockings with this delightful Scottish hunk,” a third added.

It comes after it was revealed this week there would be a major presenter shake-up, as Ben was replaced by Gordon.

Gordon said of his new role: “I’m thrilled to be joining the amazing stable of talent, in front and behind the camera, on Good Morning Britain.

“So many of the issues facing the country right now are close to home and I’m relishing the chance to join the debate.”

Regular presenters Susanna Reid, Richard Madeley, Kate Garraway, Ben Shephard and Martin Lewis will all return in the New Year.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX
