GOOD Morning Britain viewers were in tears today as Chris Kamara opened up about his battle with apraxia of speech.
The 64-year-old bravely spoke of how the condition, which is caused by his underactive thyroid, is affecting his ability to talk.
Football commentator Kammy told pal Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins that he was having a better time of it today.
He said: “If I explain my apraxia, we take for granted the fact when we think and coming through our speech it’s comfortable it’s easy, it’s natural.
“My apraxia, when it’s bad stops those signals from that brain going to that mouth. It slows it down, at times it slurs the words as well. People are looking thinking ‘is he all right? Is he drunk? What’s the matter with him?’
“When I put out the message after Soccer Saturday, I never in a million years expected that response. Everyone has been People have got in touch who I haven’t spoke to in 30 or 40 years to wish me well.”

Viewers were moved to see the larger than life broadcaster’s struggle.
One wrote on Twitter: “Watching @chris_kammy on @GMB and sobbing!
“I’ve recently developed a stutter due to a brain injury and confidence is at an all time low. This helps in bucketloads Thanks Kammy.”

Kammy condition first came to light while he covered a match for Sky on Saturday afternoon.
The much-loved former footballer later revealed he was suffering from a new health condition that impedes his ability to talk.
Kammy took to Twitter after the game, telling fans he was “ok ish”.
He wrote: “Just wanted to let a few of you know who tweeted me today that I am ok ish.
“Alongside my Thyroid problem I have developed Apraxia of Speech & have been working to get my speech back to normal.
“Some days it can be a little slow and some days it’s normal. Hopefully I can beat this!”
Apraxia of speech is a condition which makes talking difficult, with sufferers knowing what they’d like to say, but having trouble communicating their words.
Kamara was flooded with words of support from fans and co-workers after revealing his health struggle, with over 112,000 users liking his post in a show of support.
Soccer Saturday colleague Jeff Stelling also replied to Kamara with a heartwarming message.

Sky presenter Dave Jones also sent his well wishes, hailing Kamara as a “hero” for his ongoing health struggles.
Jones said: “You’re a hero to me and so many others Kammy sending love.”
