GOOD Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold has teased that he will appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! this year.
The 51-year-old star admitted that he would jump at the chance to join the next series of the programme – because he wants to “redo his downstairs loo”.
The breakfast show’s showbiz correspondent was speaking to co-star Kate Garraway about the risk of the 2021 series of I’m A Celeb being cancelled this morning.
It follows news that Australia won’t be letting tourists in before 2022, which means that the jungle is once again out of bounds.
He rounded off the segment: “It’s a great show, it’d be great to be a part of” with a knowing look.
Kate – who took part in the 2019 series of the show – gasped as she leaned forward and asked: “Ooh, are you teasing us?!”
Richard smiled in reply: “Well, I’ve got to do the downstairs loo, I’m hoping to get a marble finish, so if the offer comes in I’ll do it.”
When Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid joined the programme at 6.30am, they were quick to pick up on Richard’s comments – as he revealed that the show being relocated to the Welsh castle for a second year gives him the go-ahead to take part.
Kate explained: “Your excuse for not doing it before is that you’ve covered it and seen backstage, and they don’t like you seeing behind the curtain.
“But you’ve not seen backstage at the castle!
Richard went on: “I wouldn’t officially rule it out. I’ve never experienced anyone whose come out of and said they’ve had any regrets.”
Kate encouraged him to sign up, saying: “It is extraordinary to be part of, but it is challenging.”
Susanna also backed the idea, adding: “I think you’d be absolutely terrific.”
Richard has been on the box as a TV presenter and journalist for over 20 years, and has dabbled with reality shows in the past.
In 2012, the star took part in Strictly Come Dancing, where he was eliminated in the seventh week.
Richard isn’t the only one to tease an I’m A Celebrity appearance this week, with Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall also revealing that she could sign up while her bandmates are on maternity leave later this year.
