Gordon Ramsay's Mansion Renovation Plans Halted by Council

Security Gate and Wall Modifications Rejected

Gordon Ramsay's £7 million London home renovation has hit a roadblock as council officials reject his proposed changes to security gates and a historic wall.

The celebrity chef's plans to install new security gates at his four-bedroom mansion have been denied.

Setback in Renovation Plans

Despite winning approval in July 2021 for renovations that included expanding the basement and adding an en-suite bedroom, Ramsay faced delays due to restrictions on using machinery near the property, located in a conservation area.

Ramsay also aimed to replace existing steel gates with painted timber ones and alter a front boundary wall design.

Council Denies Application

The council cited concerns that the proposed changes would not fit the neighborhood's aesthetic and could impact a potentially historic wall, prompting the rejection of Ramsay's application.

As a result, Ramsay and his family have reportedly been residing in a luxury flat nearby during the renovation process.

A Glimmer of Hope

Planning officers have advised Ramsay to submit a new application, suggesting that the gate and wall modifications could be reconsidered as part of a fresh proposal.

The renovation, which includes a new basement gym, wine store, and other amenities, is nearing completion.
