Kevin McCloud's Concerns

Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud has expressed his concerns about the owner of the show's "saddest build ever." The Devon property, known as Chesil Cliff House, was designed to look like a lighthouse and took 12 years to build, leading to financial and personal struggles for its owner, Edward Short.

Struggles and Challenges

Edward Short, a former record industry executive, faced mounting debt and the breakdown of his marriage while trying to complete his dream home project. The property, which gained fame through the Channel 4 programme, faced issues with water leakage and structural damage, costing tens of thousands of pounds to rectify.

Future of the Property

Despite the challenges, Edward Short managed to bring his ambitious project to completion, and the cliffside home is now listed for sale. Reports suggest that Michael Jackson's former bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, has shown interest in purchasing the property and converting it into 12 apartments.

Listing Details

The five-bedroom property was listed for £5.25 million earlier this year, with plans for a helipad and stunning coastal views. Situated on three acres of land, the house features an infinity pool, a hot tub, and a spacious driveway, offering a unique opportunity for potential buyers.
