ITV has announced the return of its gripping murder mystery show Grantchester.
The seventh season is set to air on ITV very soon. Here’s a look at the returning cast members.
Who’s in the cast of Grantchester season 7?
Robson Green
Robson Green shot to fame in the 90s after playing the character Fusilier Dave Tucker in drama Soldier Soldier.
In Grantchester, Robson plays the character of Geordie Keating – a police inspector who fought in the Second World War.
In an exclusive interview with the Belfast Telegraph in 2019, he shared: “There’s a couple of things I’ve done where I’ve walked off, because I just can’t abide the people I’m working with.
“I mean, narcissism is part of the equation of being an actor, but my God, there’s different levels and scales. And I’ve been alongside most of them.”
Tom Brittney
Tom Brittney replaced James Norton in series five of the detective drama.
The actor plays the role of Reverend Will Davenport and has featured in a number of hit TV shows.
Tom has starred in Doctors, Call the Midwife, Channel 4’s sci-fi drama Humans and Outlander.
Tessa Peake-Jones
Tessa will return as Mrs. Chapman in the new season of Grantchester.
The actress is well known for her role as Raquel in the BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
She played Raquel between 1988 until 2003 when the programme ended.
Al Weaver
Al will return as Leonard Finch – assistant to the Vicar of Grantchester.
The actor shared his thoughts on his character in an interview with Masterpiece:
“I like his honesty and his silliness. He’s one of these people that looks at the world in a different way, and I like the way he looks at it. He’s not shaken by other people’s opinions.
“He’s very forward-thinking and determined, and I like that about him. He’s very brave. I think he’s such a brave character, and that’s a good thing.”
Charlotte Ritchie
Ghosts star Charlotte will be joining the cast and playing the character of Cathy’s niece – Bonnie.
Bonnie is a widowed character with a little boy and will be around to help Cathy following her split from Geordie at the end of season six.
Tom Brittney shared after Charlotte joined the cast “it felt like Charlotte had been there for years”.
When will Grantchester air on TV?
Grantchester will return to TV on Friday March 11, 2022.
The show will premiere at 9pm on ITV.
