FANS of daytime soap Doctors were devastated today as a show legend died in a shock twist.
Surgery receptionist Karen Hollins [Jan Pearson] has been a fan favourite for 14 years was was affectionately bestowed with the nickname ‘Gobby’ thanks to her love of chit chat.

Having seemingly recovered from a heart attack suffered over the Christmas period, Karen was preparing to enjoy a cruise holiday with husband Rob [Chris Walker].
The couple were buoyed by receiving £10,000 over the asking price on their house and intended to put it to good use on a luxury trip.
But the holiday dream quickly became a nightmare when Rob returned home to find his wife unconscious on the sofa.
Paramedics rushed to the home but couldn’t revive Karen, and she was declared dead leaving devastated Rob to inform their children and Karen’s colleagues.
One viewer wrote: “Oh dear, that was so heartbreaking, feel devastated. Never thought it would have me sobbing.”
Another said: “BBC Doctors know how to tug at the heart strings don’t they that episode was so sad.”

Karen’s fate had previously hung in the balance with a shocking cliff-hanger ahead of Christmas.
The surgery receptionist suddenly collapsed following a heated confrontation with freshly sacked trainee GP, Princess Buchanan.
Karen lay unconscious behind the reception desk until an unexpected visitor in the form of Luca McIntyre returned from his travels and helped her.
