TV personality Jane McDonald has recently shared her feelings about the death of her fiancé Eddie Rothe and revealed that she still talks to him. Eddie passed away from lung cancer three years ago, leaving Jane devastated. As the new year begins, Jane, 60, reflects on the loss of Eddie and her mother, who passed away three years prior.
Remembering Loved Ones
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Jane expressed that the new year is a particularly difficult time for her. She confessed, "I do shed the occasional tear and especially at new year. That's when it hits me." Despite her grief, Jane believes that Eddie and her mother wouldn't want her to be consumed by sadness and encourages herself to think about the future.
She shared, "If the two of them are looking down on me, I honestly think they wouldn't want me to be lost in sadness wondering what to do with the rest of my life."
A Special Connection
Although Eddie and Jane are no longer together, she revealed that she still talks to him in her thoughts. This connection helps her feel close to him and find solace in their memories.
A Supportive Friendship
Since Eddie's passing, Jane has leaned on her best friend Sue Ravey for support. Sue even moved into Jane's home near Wakefield last year, helping her navigate through the grieving process. The two have appeared together on Celebrity Gogglebox and have found comfort in each other's presence.
Jane shared, "It helped keep the grief at bay, I tend to grieve in private. But you can't always be sure when it's going to strike. Your emotions can ambush you."
Cherishing Time Together
Jane also opened up about Eddie's final weeks before his death. She expressed gratitude that she was able to be by his side during that time, especially considering the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
She shared, "As daft as it sounds, I'm thankful it was during Covid because I was there with him. Nobody else was."
However, Jane also mentioned the difficulties she faced in caring for Eddie without the assistance of medical professionals. She had to learn how to take care of him on her own and eventually moved him to Wakefield Hospice for his final days.
Jane's openness about her grief and her ongoing connection with Eddie serves as a reminder that love and loss can leave a lasting impact. As she continues to navigate life without him, she finds solace in their memories and the support of her loved ones.
