Successful sitcom gets a sequel
A hit BBC comedy has defied its critics and secured a second Hollywood film, following a fan backlash. Brendan O'Carroll recently returned as the beloved Mrs Brown in the first series of Mrs Brown's Boys in a decade. Now, O'Carroll has teamed up with Hollywood superstar Tyler Perry for a new movie, A Madea Homecoming, with O'Carroll reprising his role as Mrs Brown and Perry playing Mabel "Madea" Simmons.
Taking the big screen by storm
Mrs Brown's Boys, which has been airing Christmas Specials since 2013, already had a film adaptation in 2014, titled Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie. Last year, O'Carroll joined forces with Tyler Perry for A Madea Homecoming, which was a huge success. Now, the duo are in talks for a second film outing, this time on Netflix. O'Carroll expressed his excitement and said, "The idea is for them to go on safari this time. I get on really well with Tyler. We're good mates."
Criticism from viewers
Despite the show's popularity, the latest series of Mrs Brown's Boys has faced criticism from some viewers. Social media comments include remarks such as, "Anyone actually find Mrs Brown's Boys funny? Can't believe it's back again," and "This is without doubt the s*****t program on TV." However, there are also many fans who continue to love the show's return, with one viewer tweeting, "Mrs Brown's Boys is the funniest it's been in years."
A sitcom worth watching
Mrs Brown's Boys can be seen on BBC One and is also available to stream on BBC iPlayer. The show's comedic genius, portrayed by Brendan O'Carroll, has kept audiences entertained for years. With a new film on the horizon and a loyal fanbase, it seems that Mrs Brown's Boys is here to stay.
