Holly Willoughby and Dermot O’Leary speechless as Gino D’Acampo returns to This Morning with awkward Phillip comment

THIS Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Dermot O’Leary were left speechless on today’s show after an awkward comment from chef Gino D’Acampo.

The famous Italian chef, 46, was back on the hit ITV show for the first time in a long time today to rustle up some terrific tiramisu.

Holly told Gino there had been “no news”

His return comes after former This Morning host Phillip Schofield, 61, was forced to quit last month after his relationship with a runner who worked on the show came to light.

And failing to read the room, Gino bluntly asked Holly and Dermot what he had missed in the past month.

As Holly and Dermot sat on the sofa, Gino asked them what had been going on, and if there was anything he needed to know from the past month.

Dermot and Holly appeared taken aback by the comment and failed to say anything, with Holly simply flashing a smile at the chef.

Introducing the chef, Dermot said: “It’s been a while but Gino is finally allowed back in the This Morning kitchen.”

Gino replied: “I was in Italy for a month and I can’t wait to cook for all of you.”

He continued: “Everything is under control, I’m back. Any news? Anything in the last month that I should know of?”

Dermot sat with a pen in his mouth looking uncomfortable while Holly laughed beside him.

“No news,” Holly said smiling, as Gino jumped in and said: “No news, OK so I can go straight into the cooking.”

Phillip left the show after lying to his ITV bosses and colleagues about his affair.

The ex-This Morning host was said to have been offered a private therapy package when he was forced to quit last month.

But when the younger man, a runner who worked with the 61-year-old star, asked for the same help he was refused, a source said.

The presenter left the show after lying to his ITV bosses and colleagues about his affair.

Our source said: “ITV appear to be slightly hypocritical in their approach to Phil and the runner, who they now call Person X.

“Phil was told ITV would pay for any therapy.

“But Person X has said that he was only offered ITV’s basic package — which he turned down.

“It seems pretty dismal in light of what has gone on that they wouldn’t offer to pay for a private package.”

ITV said: “We are offering duty of care support to both Phillip Schofield and Person X.”

Last month, Phil said he had yet to take up the private therapy offer.
