The star’s friendship with co-host Phillip Schofield has broken down
A source has told The Mirror: “By removing herself from the situation she could protect herself better.”
They added: “She feels trapped. She knows she could easily find another job at a different channel, so it’s up to ITV to give her assurances that she’ll be taken care of if she stays put.”
Holly and Phil’s fallout reached fever pitch at the end of last week, when he released an extraordinary statement discussing it.
Phil, 61, described 42-year-old Holly as his “rock” but admitted: “The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.”
The rift had been revealed by The Celeb Report days earlier, with fans of the daytime show flooding social media with calls for a change.
The Celeb Report has since revealed how Phil called in a lawyer to help him.
Insiders said at the time how tensions between him and Holly had been rumbling for some time and were worsened by Phil’s brother Timothy’s sex abuse trial.
The former police IT worker was found guilty last month of 11 sexual offences, including two against a child.
He is due to be sentenced on Friday at Bristol Crown Court.
Meanwhile, despite the row, on Tuesday evening, Holly was all smiles as she attended the Prince’s Trust Awards in London.
Phil revealed on social media that he was elsewhere in London discussing sustainable booze at the London Wine Fair in Olympia.
