Holly Willoughby wants her new BFF Alison Hammond to ‘takeover as her This Morning co-host’
Phil and Holly have suffered a fallout behind-the-scenes of the show
Holly, 42, and Phil, 61, saw their once-close relationship crumble in recent weeks – and the pair are being given a week off in June.
In light of their backstage fall-out, it has now been reported that the mum-of-three could be teamed up with her new BFF.
According to the Daily Mail, “Holly wants her new best friend” to join her on the famous sofa,
The publication even claim that, “Holly has told her bosses of her wish and ITV agree.”
Holly and Alison, 48, have become close friends over the years, and have proved popular when they have previously hosted together.
Alison ha seen her star soar in recent years, after being promoted to This Morning’s Friday host, along with Dermot O’Leary.
She has even stepped in to present alongside Holly, when Phil has taken time off.
It comes as Insiders say many believe the time is finally up for Phil, who has hosted the ITV juggernaut since 2002.
This Morning’s boss Martin Frizell could also be in line for the chop, according to staff — as ITV top brass attempt a major overhaul of the embattled series.
However those working on the daytime show say they understand that popular co-presenter Holly’s job will be safe.
A source said: “This Morning is preparing for some seismic changes this summer — and Phil is lined up as the first major name for the chop when his contract expires this summer.
“It’s highly unlikely he’ll be back in September.
“Plans are being drawn up for a new look This Morning and, at the moment, Phil is not featuring in them. He has worked on the show for over two decades. Many feel it is time for some fresh blood.”
