Before that, Jude Hawley and Reuben Thwaites starred as younger versions of Lucas.

He will also become close friends with other teens in the Hollyoaks village as he goes through the trials and tribulations of student life.

Talking about joining the Channel 4 soap, Oscar said: “I’ve felt so welcome at Hollyoaks, the cast and crew feel like a real family.

“My first day was so exciting and I’m ready for the fans of the show to see the new Lucas.

“You can definitely expect drama, emotions and everything
in between.”

Lucas’ sister on the soap, Leah Hay, has recently been part of a storyline about consent.

Recent episodes saw the rebellious teen get drunk at Charlie’s house party and after a few too many she passes out.

Mason Chen-Williams, who is being manipulated by misogynist Eric Foster, took a picture of Leah when she’s unconscious and uploaded it to the Mens First chat.

Although humiliating for Leah, Ela-May revealed that it has been thrilling getting to explore some more mature themes on the show.

Speaking to Inside Soap about her characters new direction, Ela-May said: “[I’m] so excited! I’ve grown up alongside Leah, and getting to act out this new, rebellious side of her is so much fun. I’m excited every time I read the scripts.”

The actress also revealed that Leah hasn’t learnt her lesson from the incident and teased that there is more trouble on the horizon.

She added: “Leah and her friends definitely aren’t going to start behaving now.

“I think, if anything, they’re only going to get themselves into more trouble.”

Oscar will make his debut on the soap on Wednesday March 15th on E4 and All 4 and Thursday March 16th on Channel 4.
