Homes Under the Hammer’s Martin Roberts once fell through the floorboards in horror accident at rickety house

HOMES Under the Hammer’s Martin Roberts once fell through floorboards in a horror accident at a rickety house.

The BBC show has been on our screens since 2003 and during that time the presenters have seen a lot of dilapidated homes.

This can lead to some disastrous moments, and poor Martin certainly got a shock when he visited one house.

Show boss and head of Lion TV, Lisa Hazlehurst, told The Guardian: “Martin fell through some floorboards once. We were lucky enough to catch it on camera.”

While Martin escaped unscathed, he recalled another funny incident saying: “This guy bought this house, and it had such bad subsidence that I could roll a Coca-Cola can from one end of the floor to the other – it just rolled down.

“I said to the guy: ‘Can’t you see the floor?’ And he said: ‘Yeah, but it’s on a hill.’”

The show has been on air since 2003

The presenters have seen plenty of terrible houses in their time

Co-host Dion Dublin added: “I’ve been in a lot of terrible houses. Hundreds of them.”

Homes Under the Hammer has continued to air during the coronavirus pandemic, but changes have had to be made while filming new episodes.

Martin explained to Express.co.uk back in October: “So Homes Under the Hammer got put on hold, so we haven’t really done much filming on that since March.

“We’ve done a few days here and there and we’ve tried a new way of filming where it’s just me and a cameraman – that seems to be working.”

He added of the challenges they faced filming in the new conditions: “I think it’s just a lot slower, obviously, we can only do one property a day.

“And obviously the auctions are you know, they’re not operating in the normal way. So we’re having to make it you know, adapt there.”

He continued: “The auctions have gone online, a lot of them. So we can’t obviously be there.

“So what we’re having to do is just talk to the auction houses and you know, get them to ask the people who’ve made the bids, if they are happy to be featured on the show.”

Homes Under the Hammer airs weekdays at 10am on BBC One.
