THE horror moment that Billie Faiers fell and smashed her head during Dancing On Ice training was revealed in tonight’s show – after the star quit the programme with concussion.
The 31-year-old beauty had no choice but to bow out of the competition after already receiving a bye last week for a family bereavement.
The mum-of-two suffered the injury when rehearsing with her pro partner Mark Hanretty on Friday [5 February].
Billie was checked over by on-site medics before being taken to hospital for an MRI scan to detect any damage to her head.
And Dancing On Ice showed her shock slip in full this evening, with host Phillip Schofield talking to 35-year-old Mark about the accident.
The pro skater explained: “We’d been working really hard, Billie obviously had a lot to catch up on when she missed a week and we’d had a good week of training, really positive and happy week.
“Then on Friday night we said let’s do one more run-through and of course that’s when she went…”
Phil then showed the footage, telling viewers at home: “It stops very quickly as obviously our team rush out to make sure she’s okay.
“When she goes over she bangs her head, and that’s the start of the concussion, which we know she’s suffering from.”
In the video, Billie and Mark are skating flawlessly before the former Towie star appears to lose her footing as she lands a lift – slipping backwards as she bangs her head on the ice and slides between Mark’s legs.
Discussing how the blonde beauty is doing now, Mark shared: “She’s as well as can be expected, my sadness is she was such a lovely lady and she’s had some really rough luck at the moment, so I send so much love to her.”
Billie previously took to Instagram to admit that she was devastated to leave the competition, with a source close to the star adding: “Billie is absolutely gutted. She’s been really upset all day and would have done anything to stay in the competition.
“But it’s doctor’s orders and she has to put her safety first.”
An ITV spokeswoman said: “During rehearsals for this week’s show, Billie Shepherd has had a fall.
“Taking the expert advice of the Dancing on Ice medical team, she sadly cannot perform this weekend and will therefore now withdraw from the competition.
“We wish Billie well as she now takes the time to recover.”
She also missed last week’s show following her grandma’s death.
Dancing On Ice has been cursed with injuries this year — and has run out of reserve skaters for the first time ever.
The Celeb Report on Sunday revealed last month how Denise Van Outen, 46, fractured her shoulder in three places during rehearsals, which meant she had to abandon the series after the first show.
And last week comedian Rufus Hound, 41, had to leave after testing positive for Covid.
Reserves Amy Tinkler, 21, and comedian Matt Richardson, 29, have stepped in to replace them – but there are no more reserves left to fill in for Billie – or any future unexpected exits.
