The show featured two singletons dancing as they first met

It featured Diversity star Ashley teaching two singletons a dance routine, which they then performed together as they met for the first time on the dance floor.

A TV insider said: “Flirty Dancing was a brilliant show but when Covid hit it became too difficult to film.

“Once it was safe to go again, bosses decided the appetite for the show was over and Ashley was really busy working on other projects.

“Ashley ended up making loads of money off the show though as he sold it to America.”

The American version was hosted by Jenna Dewan and aired on Fox.

Speaking about the show in the past, Ashley said: “It’s great to be able to meet people online and through apps because they are right at your fingertips.

“We’re able to connect with people in a way we wouldn’t 20 years ago. But at the same time, the cons are it’s much more impersonal. People are just much more judgemental and throwaway.

“I think with a process like Flirty Dancing, you’ve invested a week in a person before you’ve even met them, so it’s a bit of old-school romance in that way.”

Ashley first found fame when his street dance troupe won Britain’s Got Talent.

He’s gone on to have huge success and is now a judge on Dancing On Ice.
