The documentary-style comedy was set in the fictional female prison, HMP Woldsley
She played multiple characters from Laura Willis, the Governor who believes creativity leads to rehabilitation, to Big Viv, the psychopath lifer.
The series is set over a six-week period during which the inmates rehearse a musical directed by ex-EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison.
Rehearsals draw together an oddball collection of women as they find their voices, grow in confidence and strengthen their friendships.
While many viewers were won over by the mockumentary, critics weren’t as impressed upon its April release last year – with The Guardian giving it just two stars while the Radio Times slammed its immature jokes.
Hard Cell received an average rating of 4.9/10 on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic assigned a score of 38 out of 100.
Catherine shouldn’t be too upset with Netflix‘s verdict though, as she’s currently starring in BBC One’s Queen of Oz, which she’s written and self-developed.
In the sitcom, she becomes Princess Georgiana, a member of the – fictional – Royal Family.
A disruptive party girl and PR disaster for the Monarchy which leaves the rest of her family red-faced, the princesses’ time is finally up after an incident while undertaking her royal duties.
Her father, the King, makes the unprecedented move of abdicating his Australian throne in favour of his daughter.
It’s hoped that giving her some real responsibility will finally be the making of her.
However, if it isn’t she is at least kept 10,000 miles away from London and the British press.
Queen of Oz airs Fridays at 9.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
