SPARKS are set to fly on Married At First Sight after a husband and wife “run off with one another”.
The “hugely dramatic” scenes will cause “absolute chaos” on MAFS UK and make any previous drama “look like an episode of Antiques Roadshow”, a source told us.
Jordon Mundell tied the knot with Alexis Economou on MAFS UK last year
But the personal trainer landed himself in hot water after kissing co-star Megan Wolfe
It’s the second ‘betrayal’ of the season after April Banbury kissed a woman in a hot tub during a game of dares, leaving hubby George Roberts in tears.
Ahead of this new bombshell, which will air over the coming weeks, we spoke to former star Jordon Mundell, who cheated on his MAFS match by snogging Megan Wolfe.
In an exclusive interview, he admits he “gladly accepted the role” of ‘show villain’ and wouldn’t “change anything”, while revealing other surprising show secrets.
Matched despite ‘deal breaker’
Unlikely other contestants who applied to be on MAFS UK, Jordon, 29, from Cardiff Bay, Wales, says he was asked to go on the show by a producer on Instagram.
He was surprised to be matched with model Alexis Economou due to her being a smoker, which he says was one of his “very clear deal breakers”.
But that’s not the only surprise. During the interviews, he claims producers screened contestants multiple times to check they were not “narcissists”.
Jordon says he received a lot of DMs after appearing on MAFS
Jordon said: “They run tests to see if you’re narcissistic or a negative person two or three times and you are scored based on your answers.
“They try to suss out the type of person you are and how you would react if your partner looked at another guy and whether you feel you are more important than them.”
‘Sneaky’ producers
Jordon caused a stir when he said he preferred “tanned, long-legged blondes” – however, he claims he was led into a trap.
“They kept asking me questions and emphasised that I needed to be more and more specific about why I wasn’t sure about Alexis,” he said.
“It’s a bit sneaky really because me being honest gave them the power to make whatever they wanted with the footage.
“I was annoyed because I’m open-minded and far from shallow; most of my friends are girls and I’m very conscious of women’s feelings.”
Wedding worries
Jordon says he instantly sensed something wrong when he met Alexis
After the “very last minute” confirmation that Jordon was going to be on MAFS, he recalls being “very emotional” on the wedding day because he had no time to prepare.
“It’s crazy, you really feel the adrenaline because all eyes are on you and there is a camera in every direction,” he said. “It feels like you’re waiting there forever.
“What you didn’t see on camera was that I had a bottle of aftershave in my pocket and an electric fan from the pound shop to stop me sweating.”
Then in the reception, Jordon claims he was caught off guard because “they were recording all the time – even when they said cameras were off”.
He added: “That’s why I look so confused and lost. It didn’t make me look very intelligent. I just had a lot going through my head because I knew something wasn’t right.”
Unaired scenes
Despite a bumpy start, Jordon insists he had “an open mind” on the honeymoon until their relationship soured in a series of unaired scenes.
“What you didn’t see off-camera was that I had to leave the accommodation three times in five days because of aggressive arguments, that’s not normal” he said.
“I wanted someone calm and not explosive so that’s why I was shocked when I was paired with Alexis.
“Even when I was in the shower I felt uncomfortable and was constantly made to feel bad for rejecting her.
“By the time we got back, I definitely wanted to wife swap because it was such a difficult time in the Maldives.”
‘I laughed at the haters’
Jordon revealed he had kissed Megan Wolfe, who was married to Bob Vosey
When Jordon revealed he kissed Megan, her husband Bob broke down in tears
Jordon felt he was unfairly judged for “being honest” with Alexis, but says he refused to be “false”.
He said: “It made me laugh though. I’m a thick-skinned person and find the humour in people being so emotionally involved and stressed by a TV show without knowing the full picture.”
The “biggest backlash” came after he confessed to kissing Megan, but reveals it wasn’t all “hate” from the public.
“While there were bad comments, a lot of people shook my hand for being honest and wanted pictures, which is a good thing,” Jordon said.
After leaving the experiment, he claims the team forced him to have counselling as they “had a duty of care”.
‘Being villain was a pleasure’
While some of the edits “annoyed” Jordon at first, he’s now proud of what he achieved on MAFS.
“If I’m honest, I understood that they needed to make someone look like the ‘bad person’,” he said.
“I was glad for the role and my scenes will be remembered for a long time to come, people said I created the most entertainment and they were right.
Jordon’s still single and hasn’t been put off by his MAFS experience, despite believing he wasn’t shown in his “best light”.
“I don’t think people got to see me for who I am because I was not on the show for long enough, it was a bit frustrating,” he said.
“I would definitely go on a reality dating show again – it’s a fun way to try to find love. Whether it’s Love Island or even Married At First Sight again, I’d do it.”
Who I’d date from this season
Jordon says he’d like to date April Banbury
Giving his hot take on the MAFS contestants this year, Jordon notes they “are a bit older this year” and not many have taken his eye.
He “feels sorry” for Duka Cav because he’s “going through a hard time with Whitney” Hughes – and knows she will be having “a difficult time” from the public.
Jordon’s favourite couple is Jordon Emmett-Connelly and Chanita Stephenson and says their “instant spark” was clear to see.
PICTURE THIS
People are only just realising what the LG logo really means… did you spot it?
He also believes Jess “shouldn’t judge a book by its cover” with Pjay, who is a professional stripper, because he is “more than his job”.
As for who he’d like to be paired with, Jordon said: “I’ve not seen anyone I’d really like but if I had to choose it would be April, she’s a very smart and pretty girl.”
