A GUEST on Dirty Rotten Scammers confessed that she didn’t eat for a week and sobbed when fraudsters conned her out of £4k for a second time.
Yesterday’s episode of the BBC show saw presenters Mavis and Michelle Ackerley speak to a woman called Sharon, who was caught up in a scam back in December 2020.
The mum-of-three – who was also scammed before back in 2017 – was left panicked when she received a text from her bank warning her of unusual activity on her Amazon account.
Sharon told the pair that the message said if it was her, that she should ignore it, and if it wasn’t to press no.
So she pressed no, and a woman rang her back less than a minute later, and was told someone is trying to scam her.
She also asked if she had recently been to Liverpool and Sharon explained she hadn’t left her house because of lockdown.

SICKENING

Meanwhile Sharon’s husband wanted her to hung up and ring her back – and the lady on the other end of the phone told them not to.
The woman told Sharon that she should open another account to be safe and she moved over £4,000 into the new account.
She told her that if she didn’t receive her new card, she would get a call from the bank at 10am, and Sharon didn’t.
Sharon later called her bank and was told she had been scammed.
Recalling the moment she was told, she said: “I was in such a state, I couldn’t think.
“I was crying. My husband heard me cry and he came down and said ‘what’s the matter?’ And he went ‘oh no, oh no it’s all our money!'”
She added: “I feel ashamed. I didn’t eat for a week.”

Sharon later explained that she missed one telltale sign that it wasn’t actually the bank calling her.
She said: “I memorised the bank number off by heart. The number they rang me on, there was one digit difference and I didn’t realise.”
