This three-episode documentary series explores the psyche of Anthony leading up to the events of June 3, 2019 and the journey of his mental and emotional aftermath.

I Just Killed My Dad features interviews with the teenager, who opens up about the horrific conditions surrounding his crime.

Anthony Templet was born in Louisiana, US, and was raised by his father from the age of five, after he was taken from his mother and the rest of his family.

When Anthony was 17 years old he killed his father, shooting him in the head three times.

The incident took place in June 2019 and reportedly followed a fight between Anthony and his father.

After shooting his dad in the head, Anthony called 911 and said: “He tried to attack me. Then, we got into a fist fight. Then, I ran in his room, closed the door, and got a gun. As I locked the door, he tried to (inaudible) then I shot him. I just killed my dad. I shot him three times.”

The docuseries also shows the investigation that followed after there were no signs that the shooting was in self-defence.

The teenager’s lawyers and his stepmom defended him and fought for him to not go prison, and argued that his father had been abusive towards him.

But, viewers were left stunned, after witnessing a shocking twist at the end.

It was revealed that the story isn’t entirely about Anthony killing his father, instead it’s about a more darker and serious story of kidnaping.

Viewers were left lost for words by this shocking twist.

One viewer said: “I just finished I Just Killed My Dad on Netflix and I am CRYING.”

Another stunned viewer said: “I Just Killed My Dad and my mind is completely blown.”

While a third chimed in: “Don’t think I’ll be sleeping anytime soon after I Just Killed My Dad – thanks Netflix!”

Many viewers branded the docuseries “disturbing” and “insane”.

One viewer commented: “I just killed my dad on Netflix really has me in tears right now, people are so evil.”

Another echoed: “This I just killed my dad documentary on Netflix is wild.”

Anthony was given a reduced sentence instead of a manslaughter charge, although he was originally charged with second-degree murder.

He then pleaded no contest to negligent homicide in March 2021, and was sentenced to five years of supervised probation with credit for the time he had already done.

The 20-year-old is no longer in prison and hopes to start a new chapter in his life.

The docuseries ends with Templet telling the producers: “I just want to be normal. I just want to live normally and be happy and just move on.”

I Just Killed my Dad is available to watch on Netflix now.
