An Antiques Roadshow guest was left gobsmacked after discovering the eye-watering value of a stained glass window she saved from a rubbish skip.
An Unexpected Treasure
This week's episode of the BBC's Antiques Roadshow, hosted by Fiona Bruce at Swanage Pier in Dorset, attracted thousands of hopefuls looking to find out more information and the value of their treasured possessions. One guest, in particular, had her mind blown when she brought along a colourful item she had saved from a skip, only to discover it was worth almost £2,000.
A Beautiful Find
The guest presented a unique stained glass window to antiques expert Ronnie Archer Morgan, who immediately recognized its value. The window featured a beautiful illustration of clouds and trees with a vibrant yellow background. As Ronnie examined the item, he revealed that it had been made from tiny beads in Czechoslovakia around 1900.
An Increible Valuation
As the expert continued to discuss the window's features, he couldn't help but express his admiration. He exclaimed, "The more I talk about this, the higher the value goes up in my head. It's so remarkable." The guest then explained that she had incorporated the window into her old house but had to find a new home for it after moving. It was then that Ronnie revealed the window's value, estimating it to be between £1,200 and £1,700. Impressed, he commented, "I think someone would give that for it. I think it's remarkable."
A Pleasant Surprise
The guest was clearly taken aback by the valuation, admitting that she had never thought the window to be particularly valuable. She said, "I never even thought it was valuable, particularly. I just thought it was lovely." This unexpected revelation serves as a reminder that sometimes the true worth of an item goes beyond what meets the eye.
In another episode of Antiques Roadshow, a guest received equally astounding news when a fine jewelry specialist revealed the £20,000 value of her mother's glamorous ring.
Antiques Roadshow is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
