He was unmasked as a traitor by a crop of his teary BBC contestants, convinced he was one of their own – while fans had slammed him for being fake.
Now he has opened up on life back in the real world, revealing his plans to return to social work and a part-time charity job.
He told how hopes of being a full-time Instagram influencer had disappeared after his show exit.
He admitted he had struggled to secure a mortgage because of the unstable employment and told Vice: “I know some people from The Traitors were probably disappointed.
“They thought we’d get more followers on Instagram.”
Talking of the struggles to provide for his family Wilf, who is married to stunning wife Yiota, opened up on the financial insecurity stemming from the show.
The couple decided to tie the knot last September after filming of the BBC reality show had wrapped up.
Yet Wilf added of life as an influencer: “The thing with social media is it’s always fluctuating.
“So it’s never guaranteed income all the time. That’s hard, especially with a family.”
Talking of his career return, he added: “I think one of the aspects of getting a job is just to be around people – like actual human beings and not just a screen.”
The hit game show hosted by Strictly Come Dancing’s Claudia Winkleman, 50, saw 22 contestants enter a castle in the Scottish Highlands, and tasked with uncovering their unfaithful counterparts.
At the time of airing, viewers of the gripping BBC show felt Traitor Wilf was being false when he burst into tears and said he was “so happy” for the faithfuls – even though they banished him and he left with nothing.
Wilf was exposed after the last-standing Faithfuls smelt a rat after Traitor Kieran have them a “parting gift” by voting for Wilf before he was banished.
This made Hannah, Aaron and Meryl suspicious and ultimately led to Wilf being rumbled at the last minute.
While he put up a good fight after he knew he has been banished, Wilf then confessed to being a Traitor and revealed he has found it “really hard” while fighting back tears.
