I was a pole dancer while working three jobs for cash to build property portfolio, says A Place in the Sun’s Craig Rowe

A PLACE In The Celeb Report’s newest host Craig Rowe has revealed his lively off-screen past as he grafted to get his foot on the property ladder.

The Channel 4 anchor joked he would give his ‘right kidney’ to compete for the Glitter Ball trophy

When letting slip his route to A Place In The Celeb Report‘s plum telly role, he told the Daily Star: “I also love dancing!

“For a long time, I was in a dance company in London, and we used to put on shows. I’ve danced on stage at concerts all over the place, and for a while I also did male pole dancing.

“I would probably give my right kidney to be on Strictly!”

Aside from setting his sights on Strictly Come Dancing Glitter Ball trophy, Craig’s dancing was one of three jobs he used the cash from to help secure his first home in London.

Purchasing the pad with his sister, the QVC host said: “When I was 25, I bought my first property in London with my sister.

“Neither of us could afford to buy ourselves at the time.

“We both had three jobs at the time and we just decided to buy somewhere together in North West London, and that spurred my love for property.”

He now owns a £450K South London flat near Borough Market, which he renovated for £100K.

He told MyLondon: “Everyone was really surprised because I’d done renovations before and said to everyone I’m not doing any more.

“I was done sleeping next to a bag of cement. Done dealing with builders. Done with mess being absolutely everywhere. I needed to move somewhere that was already finished.

“But when I saw this place, as soon as I walked in, I just knew. And I can see when other people have the same reaction on A Place in the Sun.”

SUNSHINE GIG

Craig is no stranger to TV presenting, having appeared on channels including QVC and CBBC, as well as programmes like ITV’s This Morning as the ‘gadget guru’.

Speaking about joining the show, Craig gushed: “I’m so delighted to become part of the A Place in the Sun presenter team.

“Having loved travel since my teens and then nurturing a passion for property since buying my first flat in London 20 years ago – it’s my dream job.

“As a real people person, I’m loving finding dream homes for my house hunters and get such a buzz the moment it all comes together and they can start their new lives in the sun.”

His first appearance on the programme will see him travel to the coastal town of Denia in Spain in order to help newlyweds Alison and Gabriel find their perfect home.

Craig took to his Instagram page before the show aired, revealing a series of backstage photos.

He added the teaser: “Todays the day!! I make my on-air debut as the newest member of the presenter team of @aplaceinthesunofficial
