I was on Squid Game: The Challenge – I kicked off when things got ‘ugly’ but Netflix bosses cut it from the show

A contestant who appeared on the hit Netflix series Squid Game has revealed that a dramatic moment she was involved in was cut from the final edit of the show. Squid Game, which was released last month, quickly became the most streamed show in the UK, captivating audiences with its intense challenges and high stakes.

Amanda Taylor's revelation

Amanda Taylor, known as contestant 019, recently spoke to the Liverpool Echo about her experience on the show. She explained that some "ugly" scenes, particularly during the elimination process, were left out of the final cut.

Amanda revealed that the atmosphere would often become tense during the voting process, as contestants had to vote each other out after each challenge. She said, "The mood just dropped. We knew they would have to catch us off guard in some way. It got hard because it kind of became them against us in some ways. There were times I knew it would get ugly."

One instance Amanda mentioned was when the contestants came up with the idea that the lowest numbers should vote first. Being one of the lowest numbers, she expressed her dissatisfaction, leading to a confrontation. She also mentioned a moment when a fellow contestant named TJ put himself forward as a leader, causing her to question his decision-making abilities. Amanda emphasized that many of these intense moments were not shown in the final edit.

Behind-the-scenes revelations

Amanda also shared that the show was a constant whirlwind of challenges and tension, with no downtime for the contestants. She said, "There were no off-screen moments where we spoke to staff unless it was to fix our mics. We really were living in the Squid Game and we were there for around two weeks. So there's so much you guys missed out on, especially a lot of bickering and debates."

This comes after another Squid Game contestant recently posted her experience on TikTok, revealing more behind-the-scenes secrets from the set.

Squid Game is currently available to stream on Netflix, with 456 players competing for a chance to win a whopping £3.6 million cash prize.
