I was on the Apprentice and here’s how you get to the final without getting fired

APPRENTICE finalists Brittany Carter and Stephanie Affleck have revealed their top tip to get to the final.

The women, who made history in the first all-female final last year – have told how they think it’s all down to when you become the project manager.

The duo have given their tips for survival

They believe that you should never put yourself forward in the first task, or just before the interview stage.

Explaining their reasoning, Stephanie said: “We always said the riskiest time to put yourself up in task 1 and the task before the final five because if you leave at those points it’s so annoying.

“If you leave at task one no one has seen you, if you leave before the final five, it is so annoying.”

Brittany added about doing the first task:  “Lord Sugar doesn’t know you and you don’t have points to back why you should stay, if you make one mistake you are out.”

Speaking about her own experience, Stephanie continued: “I put myself up on task six and won that one and lost the second one, but by then I could say to him I might have done this, but I have done, this, this, this and this.  You don’t have that in the first task.”

The Apprentice last year was won by Harpreet Kaur, who has gone from strength to strength since then – as have both Stephanie and Brittany.

Stephanie is currently in the process of securing investment for her pre-loved children’s clothing business – Little Fashion House – to turn the ever-popular brand into the marketplace concept she went onto The Apprentice for.

She said: “It really helps you get a foot in door, before I was emailing companies and couldn’t get noticed by them and then as soon as I finished the programme and was able to say I was an Apprentice finalist, they wanted to have that conversation and that’s so useful.”

Brittany has just launched her ‘clean’ energy drink – Oomph – after securing investment off the back of the show.

“After the show I found an investor and a mentor, who has helped me launch my business. I have had all those opportunities off the back of the show, which I never would have been able to have before,” she explained.
