Iconic 80s TV show set for huge reunion 45 years on from first episode

An iconic 80s TV show is set to have a huge reunion - a whopping 45 years on from the first episode. The cast of Australian TV series Prisoner are getting back together to mark the show's anniversary. Set in a fictional correctional facility called Wentworth, the show followed the lives of women banged up for various crimes. It kicked off all the way back in 1979 and ran for seven series until coming to an end in 1986. Neighbours star Colette Mann played one of the lead roles and starred alongside Maggie Kirkpatrick.

Reunion plans revealed

Fans will get to see the women back together in February next year for a celebratory event. However, Colette is noticeably absent from the plans. Confirmed cast attending the bash include Maggie Kirkpatrick, Val Leham, Anne Charleston, Jan Russ, Janet Andrewartha, Lisa Crittenden, Christine Harris, Kevin Summers, Victoria Nicholls and Desiree Smith. Appearing on Australia's The Morning Show, Rowena Wallace and Desiree announced the reunion. Rowena said: "People enjoyed the character... They ask some wonderful questions, some wacky ones, some that I can't answer because I can't remember. And I have to explain that I'm getting old! But I love it. It's great."

Fat Friends movie in the works

In other reunion news, 90s drama Fat Friends is being made into a film. James Corden has already been approached to reprise his role. The actor is in talks to join Gavin and Stacey co-star Ruth Jones in the big-screen version of the ITV series following the lives of slimming club members. Insiders say the film, due to begin production next year, would be the perfect tribute to the original writer Kay Mellor, who died last May aged 71.
