Record Breakers Reboot: What to Expect

Children's TV show Record Breakers is making a highly-anticipated return to the screen after being off air for 24 years. The reboot, titled World Record Breakers: The Rivals, is set to bring back the spirit of the original show.

Legendary History of Record Breakers

Under the iconic host Roy Castle, Record Breakers originally aired from 1972 to 2001 on BBC1. The show featured individuals attempting to break British and world records and included interviews with champions.

Castle, a talented trumpeter, hosted the show until 1993 and sadly passed away in 1994 due to lung cancer. The show also faced tragedy with one of the Guinness World Records founders, Ross McWhirter, being murdered by an IRA gunman in 1975.

Return of Familiar Faces

Bucks Fizz singer Cheryl Baker and Olympian Kriss Akabusi were part of the later lineup of hosts for Record Breakers, with Fearne Cotton taking over in 2001 before the show was canceled that same year due to declining viewership.

Exciting Plans for the Future

TV executive Dan Baldwin, husband of Holly Willoughby, is leading the efforts to revive Record Breakers and bring back the beloved show that captivated audiences for decades.

With its focus on record attempts, feats of bravery, and exciting challenges, the new iteration of the show is expected to be a hit with both loyal fans and a new generation of viewers.
