Legendary children's TV show Blue Peter has been axed from television after an incredible 66 years, leaving staff devastated and clueless about the decision.
The long-running BBC programme, which first aired in 1958, has been a cherished part of British childhoods for generations.
'A HUGE SHOCK'
Insiders revealed that the decision to end the show was made behind the scenes without the knowledge of many crew members for months. The move has left staff reeling from the unexpected news.
Former star Simon Thomas shared the news on Instagram, expressing surprise at the show's abrupt end: "Apparently (I had no idea) today is the last ever LIVE Blue Peter on television. The show isn’t finishing, there is apparently going to be a show online; just not live on the TV anymore."

At its peak, Blue Peter was a household staple, airing three times a week on BBC One and launching the careers of presenters like Anthea Turner, Peter Purves, Valerie Singleton, and Peter Duncan.
Famous for its make-and-do segments, beloved pets, and coveted Blue Peter badges, the show has held a special place in the hearts of children over the years.
