Wayne Sleep's Jungle Mishap
An I'm A Celebrity contestant, ballet dancer Wayne Sleep, recently shared a "humiliating" experience from his time on the ITV reality show back in 2003. An injury left him stranded on the dunny in the jungle camp.
Forgotten on the Toilet
During an interview with Daily Star, Wayne revealed that he was left stuck on the toilet for an hour one night when his campmates forgot about him and went to bed, leaving him stranded and screaming for help.
An Injury to Remember
Wayne recalled how he sustained his injury while trying to entertain himself by jumping on a bed like a trampoline in the jungle, leading to a broken toe and metatarsal muscles. Fellow contestant Linda Barker came to his aid with a crutch.
Equal Pay in the Jungle
Wayne mentioned that during his time on the show, all contestants were paid the same, unlike the current format where fees vary depending on fame and reach. His series included stars like Toyah Wilcox, Phil Tufnell, Chris Bisson, and Sian Lloyd.
From Wayne Sleep to High-Paid Celebs
In contrast to Wayne's time on the show, today's top celebrities like Coleen Rooney, Caitlyn Jenner, and Noel Edmonds command high fees for their appearances on I'm A Celebrity, with some earning over £300,000 for their time in the Aussie jungle.
Wayne's reminiscence provides a glimpse into the early days of the popular reality show and the challenges faced by contestants in the jungle.
