I’m A Celeb star reveals camp secret that left stars ‘terrified’ as she shares warning ahead of new series

I’M A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! returns this month – and one past contestant has lifted the lid on the most ‘terrifying’ part of her jungle stint.

Charlene White, 42, appeared in last year’s series of the ITV reality show and has opened up about something that really “upset” her.

The Loose Women star was left ‘upset’ when the camp was plunged into darkness

The Loose Women and ITV News anchor says show bosses plunge the camp into darkness at bedtime – and she describes it as “awful”.

Speaking to The Celeb Report Online, Charlene revealed: “Nothing hits you more than when everything goes black in the middle of the jungle.

“It was awful on the first night and that was part of me getting really upset.

“They do actually turn everything off. So when the last person’s head hits the pillow, they literally turn all the lights off. All the dimmed lights go off too and you are suddenly in pitch black.

“That was by far the scariest thing.”

Charlene opened up about her jungle experience at the launch of Circus Extreme’s World Tour in London.

She also revealed a ‘pact’ that she and England Lioness Jill Scott made to get them through the long, black nights.

“You have to try and go to the toilet in the dark,” Charlene added.

“So Jilly and I had a pact where she would call me and I would call her if we needed to go.”

Charlene lasted 12 days in the Australian jungle before she was eliminated first following a public vote.

This month will see a new slew of celebrities enter a very different camp – in South Africa.

The All Stars spin-off will bring together nine past jungle legends and, unlike the the original version, it was pre-recorded in November.

Instead of heading Down Under, the ITV show was filmed in Kruger National Park, South Africa where, ironically, the Aussie version of the show is shot.

I’m A Celebrity: All Stars will kick off at the end of April. Among the lineup is Jordan Banjo, Helen Flanagan and Carol Vorderman.

Last week, presenting duo Ant and Dec teased an extra three mystery celebrities who will be joining the already confirmed cast.
