I’m A Celebrity reunion axed over coronavirus fears

I’M A Celebrity’s big reunion has been axed over coronavirus fears.

Normally the stars of the ITV show get together to celebrate their time in jungle with a huge wrap party at the end of their three weeks – but Covid-19 has well and truly thrown a spanner in the works.

The stars of I’m A Celebrity 2020 will have to wait until next year for a reunion party

The celebs this year have become a tight knit group and they have all been making plans to see each other when the show finishes on Friday.

However because they don’t have any contact with the outside world, none of them know that the UK will be put into three strict tiers from tomorrow.

All contestants got tested before they went in, which meant that they could live together, but as soon as they’ve moved out of camp, they’re not allowed to re-bubble.

This means that the gang will have to wait until next year to meet up for a reunion when there is a bit more guidance on when it is safe to do so.

The celebs have been able to physically touch each the because they got tested before the show

The I’m A Celebrity cast of 2019 were able to celebrate at the five star Palazzo Versace Gold Coast in Australia

One source told The Mirror: “Some of the contestants haven’t checked the Government guidelines for more than a month because they were in lockdown before the show for three weeks and then have been on the show over two weeks now too.

“They thought it would be possible to hire a venue or meet up perhaps in a marquee or something with their partners and were keen to meet up before Christmas.

“Sadly the virus has continued to spread rapidly whilst they have been on the show and it will not be something that can happen soon.”

The celebs are starting to get voted out by the public, with Paralympian Hollie Arnold voted out first three days ago.

Then on Sunday actress Ruthie Henshall became the second person to leave the castle, followed by Corrie legend Beverly Callard and journalist Victoria Derbyshire last night.

Presenter Vernon Kay, Olympic legend Mo Farah, author Giovanni Fletcher and EastEnders star Shane Ritchie are still up with a chance of winning.

Opera singer Russell Watson, Radio 1’s Jordan North, Strictly’s AJ Pritchard and soap favourite Jessica Plummer are also battling it for the number one spot.

ITV bosses have confirmed that the finale will air on Friday, December 4 at 9pm for one hour and 35 minutes.
