Sam Thompson Crowned King of the Jungle
I'm A Celebrity champion Sam Thompson has admitted he was unaware of any brewing jungle "tensions" in the camp. The cheeky chap found himself crowned the King of the Jungle on the ITV reality show beating off tough competition from boxer Tony Bellew and ex-politician Nigel Farage.
"No Clue" about Jungle Tensions
Looking to enjoy every moment of the experience, Sam admitted he avoided any sense of tension in the camp but equally confessed he had "no clue" what his co-stars were talking about when it came to fiery political debates. Counting Nigel as one of his campmates, the former UKIP leader clashed with a number of the stars over his policies, views, and political background.
Swerving Heated Exchanges
Speaking to the Mirror after gaining his new title, Sam admitted he had "nothing to add" during the conversations which helped him swerve any heated exchanges. Sam told the publication: "I didn't know what was going on, and I had nothing to add, so I'd literally sit there and obviously with my ADHD, my gaze would go everywhere, and I'd just find myself following a butterfly instead down by the creek."
Building His Own Opinion
Sam went on to add that he "didn't know much" about Nigel before they became jungle buddies and as such built up a picture of the star based on the friend he made in camp as opposed to his often troublesome views. Sam continued: "The guy that I got used to in there was a sweet enough dude, he kept himself to himself but mucked in when he needed to. I'm glad I didn't have any preconceived notions of him or anyone in there because, you know, it really makes the experience the most original you could ever have."
Overwhelmed by Victory
Despite being the favorite, Sam was visibly shocked when Ant and Dec called his name out in Sunday's live finale. He leapt into the arms of runner-up Tony as he was named the winner of I'm A Celebrity. Speaking to Ant and Dec, Sam was overcome with emotion. He said: "Oh my God. I'm really overwhelmed. I didn't think I was even going to be invited on the show. I don't know what to say. Oh my God. I'm so grateful, thank you so much. I've dreamt of doing this show for years and years. You've made a boy's dream come true. Thank you."
Avoiding Trouble
Throughout his time in the jungle, Sam managed to stay out of brewing trouble with his co-stars. Despite being unaware of the tensions that were going on around him, Sam focused on enjoying the experience and formed his own opinions about his campmates.
