Charlene revealed there’s a lot that the viewers didn’t get to see in this year’s series
Charlene admitted there were “heated debates” during the camp that viewers never got to see
The broadcaster has been back in the UK for week now, and is getting back into the swing of things.
Now, the Loose Women star revealed what actually happened during this year’s series, as she describes her experience in the camp as “smelly”, “frightening”, and “difficult”.
The star admitted that “the public got a tiny snapshot of what it was like” for the participants to live amongst the creepy crawlies, eat very little, and sleep under the stars”.
Charlene talked about how the public didn’t get to see the “heated debates” they had during their time in the camp.
She shared: “There was so much that viewers didn’t get to see, like our very heated debates for hours over what constitutes “God-tier” biscuits (Baba’s much-used phrase). “
She added: “Someone dared to argue that Bourbons were the best. Baba actually lost his mind. We laughed so much that day we cried real tears.”
The star also went on to explain how challenging it was to sleep in the dark, explaining how when the lights would be turned off “a lot of fear” kicked in.
She said: “As excited as we all were to meet each other and settle into camp life, when we went to bed and all the lights in camp were turned off, a lot of fear kicked in. Other than a couple of infrared lights high up in the trees, it was pitch black.”
The TV personality continued: “This was an unknown environment in which we couldn’t see in the dark; we didn’t know what would come and visit in the night, what could crawl over us and into our sleeping bags, and what we could bump into on night-time trips to the dunny.”
Charlene also added that there was a lot of down time in the jungle.
The star penned: “When we’re not doing tasks or challenges there is literally nothing to do.”
She added: “And yet, we somehow managed to potter our way through every day. It’s an intense environment for anyone to live in. Each day we learned something new about each other, after hours and hours of talking and debating.”
This comes after Charlene recently returned to her “day job” for the first time since the show, and showed off her post-camp weight loss.
Charlene said there was a lot of “down time” in the camp and they mostly had “nothing to do”
