But another stalwart was at the receiving end of their frustration

The ITV viewer took to the social platform to express their thoughts on Sean Tully.

The Underworld factory machinist made his first appearance in Weatherfield during the early noughties.

However, actor Antony Cotton hasn’t always been the most popular stars of all the Corrie line-up.

“Sean is fine”, the soap fan first wrote.

Coronation Street’s Andy Whyment shares snaps to celebrates son’s birthday

“The hate he gets is way over the top and people seem to have a really irrational hatred cause of Antony Cotton, which seems based on him either being annoying on I’m A Celeb (and if I was in a jungle barely able to sleep or eat I’d be annoying too).”

“Or tales of him being a k*** in real life which are always third or fourth hand – ‘my mates sister’s cousin’s nephew said he was on a bus once'”, they added.

But while they flew to Sean Tully’s rescue, another Corrie stalwart got the most of their frustration.

“Also Roy is a very annoying character”, they complained.

One fan responded to the poster’s claim about Roy’s Rolls café owner Roy Cropper, portrayed by David Neilson.

“I find him annoying too. He’s a know it all and judgmental (not about how people are but about their hobbies and such).”

“He’s always moaning about modern hobbies like playing music, but would be upset if someone disliked his hobbies.”

Another viewer chimed in, explaining why Roy may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

“The actor has said that he portrays Roy’s character as Autistic/ having Asperger’s (can’t remember which) and when you see David Neilson in an interview you really get to see how different he is to Roy.”

Many other fans responded to the original post with their own opinions about another familiar but often overlooked face in Weatherfield.

These viewers almost unanimously took a liking to the same character – Kirk Sutherland, played by Andy Whyment.

“I don’t mind Kirk to be honest, sure he only exists for comic relief but he’s good at what he does, and serves as a nice break of tension in an otherwise serious episode.”

Another fan echoed: “I feel kirk is hated on too much. Andrew Whyment seems to be a lovely guy- it’s not his fault that the writers make his character dumb sometimes.”

“I think he’s very likeable, unproblematic and friendly.”

A third viewer commented: “I love our Kirkeh. He doesn’t have an unkind bone in his body” while another penned: “He is a sweetheart. The kind of man you could actually trust to not hurt you.”

One other fan put Nina Lucas’ relationship with Asha Alahan on blast, stating: “I don’t find Nina and Asha believable as a couple – at all.”
