I’m going to parliament to fight to make medical cannabis legal, says Towie’s Amy Childs after drug ‘saved girl’s life’

The former Towie star is also launching a range of CBD oil products

In an exclusive chat with The Celeb Report, the 31-year-old reality star said: “I want to go to parliament to campaign for medical cannabis to become available for those who need. That’s the plan.”

Amy has a personal connection to the cause after she became friends with a young girl whose ‘life was saved’ by taking the medicinal herb.

Amy’s pal Jorja Emerson, 6, from Ireland suffers from a rare chromosome disease and was having up to 30 seizures a day.

Doctors warned she was in danger of dying  until her dad Robin did research on how medical cannabis could help her.

The star down when she came across Jorja’s struggle on the internet, and instantly wanted to connect with her family.

Amy revealed: “When I heard about Jorja, as a mother, I was so emotional. It was devastating what her dad Robin was going through – to be told by doctors to take his daughter home to die.

“About 8 months ago I flew over to Ireland to meet them, and I was in floods of tears after all they went through.

“I found out about all the research Robin had done, and how THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis)  in the medical cannabis has kept Jorja alive by dramatically reducing her seizures.”

Currently only products containing CBD (cannabidiol) are legal in the UK, as they do not contain the THC component which causes the ‘high’.

As well as her fight to make medical cannabis recognised by law, Amy has also teamed up with Robin to release a range of natural products with legal CBD, called Jorja Botanical Range.

The line, which Amy is the Creative Director of, is out now and a percentage of the profits go to the Jorja Foundation to help other kids with the condition.

Amy explained: “The range contains lots of products including cream, soothing balms and bath salts that the whole family can use, and there are also CBD oil drops for over 18s.”

Cannabidiol, or CBD, oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut oil or hemp seed oil.

It is a chemical compound found in the cannabis sativa plant.

CBD is often extracted from the cannabis sativa plant in oil form and mixed with an inert carrier oil like hemp seed oil for consumption.

In recent years, CBD oil has skyrocketed in popularity thanks to its purported calming effects. It can now be found in a range of products from simple oil tinctures to CBD-infused potato chips.
