GRAND Designs’ award-winning barn conversion took TEN years to complete.
House on the Hill, a stunning eighteenth century farmhouse in Gloucestershire, was given the title of House of the Year 2021 by the Channel 4 show last year.
The amazing property, which overlooks the Wye Valley, was designed by Alison Brooks Architects and was completed in four phases.
The three-storey farmhouse was converted into a “vast gallery space” and is connected to a new two-storey wing extension that looks out onto the beautiful hillside of the Forest of Dean.
It features a dining room, kitchen and living space.
The impressive pad also boasts two bedrooms, an office and a terrace.
There is also a gallery of stunning Indian and African sculptures displayed around the property.
House on the Hill made it to the RIBA House of the Year shortlist, which featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs: House of the Year.
The property was crowned the winner on December 8.
Corner House, House for Theo and Oskar, House in Assynt, The Slot House, The Outfarm and The Water Tower were also shortlisted for the award.
Simon Allford, The RIBA President said of the stunning home: “This geometric design skilfully fuses together the old with the new – connecting two architectures separated by over 300 years.
“Intriguing and distinguished, House on the Hill is the impressive result of a ten-year collaboration between the homeowners and their architect. This is an extraordinary labour of love in architectural form.
“Every detail has been meticulously considered and exquisitely finished, resulting in a truly remarkable home that enhances its unique setting.”
