Inside Soap Awards 2023 winners revealed – as one show sweeps the board and leaves rivals devastated

The winners of this year's Inside Soap Awards have been announced, and one soap has come out on top. EastEnders has taken home the highly coveted title of Best Soap, leaving its rivals devastated.

EastEnders dominates the awards

The cast of EastEnders will no doubt be celebrating this evening after their show won the most awards at this year's ceremony in London. In total, the BBC One soap scooped up six out of the 15 awards up for grabs, winning more categories than its ITV and Channel 4 competitors.

Standout performances and storylines

Some standout performances and storylines were recognized at the awards. Danielle Harold, who portrayed Lola Pearce in EastEnders, won Best Actress for her portrayal of a character who tragically died of cancer. Her on-screen husband, Jamie Borthwick, won Best Actor for his role as Jay Brown. Together, they also won Best Storyline for 'Loving and Losing Lola'.

Isabella Brown, who portrayed Lola's daughter Lexi Pearce, was awarded Best Young Performer for her incredible work.

Coronation Street takes home four awards

Coronation Street followed closely behind EastEnders, taking home four awards. Channique Sterling-Brown was crowned Best Newcomer for her role as Dee-Dee Bailey, while Todd Boyce won Best Villain for his portrayal of serial killer Stephen. Maureen Lipman, who stars as Evelyn Plummer in the ITV soap, won Best Comic Performance. Corrie also won Best Showstopper for their acid attack storyline.

Other winners

Emmerdale's Dingle clan won Best Family, with Dominic Brunt and Mark Charnock (Paddy and Marlon Dingle) winning Best Partnership. Hollyoaks' Nikki Sanderson, who plays Maxine Minniver, was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Achievement gong.

More than 90,000 soap fans voted ahead of the star-studded event. The Inside Soap Awards provide a platform to recognize the exceptional talent and storylines within the realm of soap operas, and this year's winners certainly deserve their accolades.
