FANS of Netflix’s Sex Education rave about the show’s stellar cast, genius writing and relatable content.
But the show is also filmed in one of Britain’s most picturesque villages, Symonds Yat, nestled in the heart of the Wye Valley.

The iconic Chalet, which could even be yours for an exquisite UK break
Known for its picturesque landscapes, quaint winding streets and idyllic woodland scenery, the setting of this much-loved TV show also doubles as a popular tourist destination.
It’s easy to see why – located just next to the River Wye in Herefordshire, Symonds Yat has everything you could dream of for a perfect countryside escape.
What’s more, the star-quality village holds the backdrop to many iconic scenes from Sex Education.
And what better place to start than the Chalet Jean and Otis call home in the show.
Gillian Anderson‘s cool and quirky character, sex therapist Jean, and son Otis, played by Asa Butterfield, put the bright red Norwegian-style Chalet on the map.
Sitting high above the River Wye, it’s no secret the property makes for a fabulous backdrop to the smash hit TV show – but it’s also available to rent.
“Following on from its role as one of the star locations in the worldwide smash Netflix series Sex Education, The Chalet is available to rent as holiday accommodation,” the owners wrote on The Chalet’s website.
For an eye-watering £3,680, the lodge could be yours for 4 nights.
Even the interior of the house was used in the show, as plenty of scenes show Otis and his friends relaxing in its various luxurious rooms.
If you walk along the riverbank, you can explore views of the Chalet as well as other landscapes shown in the show – a much cheaper way to soak up the same atmosphere as Otis and Jean do when lounging on their balcony.
Plus, only a short walk from Otis’ house is Yat Rock – which has some incomparable views of the valley.
It’s not the only key part of the show that was filmed here, either.
Wireworks Bridge at Tintern and Tintern Abbey may look pretty familiar to any well-seasoned fans too.
The bridge is the place Otis tells Maeve in Season 1: “I’m a Virgin.”
Lots of other scenes were filmed in Symonds Yat itself, though – and you can check them out for yourself on a day-trip to the beautiful village, just an hour’s drive from Bristol.
While you’re in the area, there’s plenty of other gorgeous travel destinations to explore.
The shop where Adam and Ola work (and Remi lives) in Season 2 is in LLandogo.
Not far from Symonds Yat, apparently they even used the same sign for filming as in real life.
A great place to stop for some snacks on your visit, its not one to miss!
The school where much of the show’s plot takes place was filmed on the now-closed campus of Caerleon, which was was once part of the University of South Wales.
It’s only a 40 minute drive from the village.
So from perfect pubs to exquisite views, the village has something for everyone.
It’s one to add to the bucket list for seasoned Sex Education fans, that’s for sure.
